Executive Overview

Tank Leasing

Tank leasing is how storage capacity becomes a tool of commercial strategy. Rather than a one-size rental, Crude Tankers III AS contracts capacity under the structure that fits your flow — term leases for dedicated capacity you control across a season or a cycle; spot storage for single parcels when availability allows; throughput agreements priced per unit moved for programmatic flows; and dedicated-tank arrangements where exclusivity, branding or specification control demands it.

Under every structure the operating standard is identical: the custody, measurement, segregation and documentation regime applied to all our services. You choose the commercial wrapper; the discipline underneath does not change. As an independent operator we hold no position against you, so leased capacity is neutral ground for your trading and distribution strategy.

Leasing is available for crude oil and the full slate of refined products, with heating, blending, additive injection and multi-modal evacuation as required, and with transparent reporting you can reconcile against your own records.

Typical Applications

Term capacity for traders

Reserve tankage ahead of expected market structure — capacity you control, product in and out on your schedule.

Throughput for programmatic flows

Distribution and supply programmes priced per ton or cubic metre moved, aligned with volume rather than time.

Dedicated tanks for brand or spec control

Exclusive tankage for branded fuels, additive packages or single-customer grades held apart from all other product.

Spot parcels between transactions

Single-cargo storage between purchase, financing and placement, subject to availability windows.

Refinery and distributor buffer

Contracted capacity that decouples receipts from runs or supply from demand across a programme.

Scalable trading relationships

Start with a spot parcel and scale to term capacity as flows mature, under a single operating standard.

The Four Leasing Structures

Each structure allocates risk differently, and the right one depends on your flow:

  • Term lease — you contract defined capacity for a fixed period and pay whether or not it is full, buying certainty and the option to store at will across the tenor.
  • Spot storage — a single parcel for a short window, subject to availability and priced accordingly.
  • Throughput agreement — priced per unit moved through the terminal, often with a minimum commitment, fitting programmatic repeat flows.
  • Dedicated tankage — specific named tanks for exclusive use, where specification, branding or additive control is critical.

Whatever the wrapper, the tank operates to the same standard: verified line-ups, custody-grade measurement, daily reconciliation and authenticated release control.

Clauses That Matter More Than the Rate

Experienced counterparties read the clauses before the rate. Our agreements address, in plain language: the measurement basis and whose figures govern, with surveyor rights; the loss allowance and the investigation duty beyond it; berthing and scheduling priority in periods of congestion; pre-agreed holdover terms if product remains after expiry; the release protocol that authenticates movement instructions; and assignment and sublease provisions that determine whether capacity can follow your book.

Assignment and sublease follow the assignment provisions of the storage agreement, and any substitute counterparty passes the same screening. We discuss all of these openly — reluctance on measurement or release protocols is exactly the kind of behaviour our customers are entitled to be wary of, and we are not that operator.

Commercial Mechanics & Living With the Agreement

Pricing reflects structure, tenor, product class, throughput profile and ancillary scope; indicative terms follow qualification and NDA. Invoicing follows the agreed billing cadence with supporting detail sufficient to reconcile against your own records, and payment terms are defined in the agreement.

Across the tenancy you receive stock statements on an agreed cadence, movement confirmations per event, and audit support on request. Capacity reviews ahead of expiry are scheduled by the commercial team, and renewals follow the renewal provisions of the agreement. Agreements end cleanly: final reconciliation, coordinated evacuation within the notice period, and a closing documentation pack covering the full tenancy.

Infrastructure Features

Engineered Terminal Infrastructure

The systems behind every service — each maintained, monitored and operated to institutional standards.

Heated Tanks

Insulated tankage with heating coils and circulation keeps viscous grades — fuel oil, feedstocks and heavy crudes — at pumpable temperature and on-specification.

Floating-Roof Tanks

Roofs that ride on the product surface minimise vapour space, evaporative loss and fire risk for crude and volatile white products.

Fixed-Roof Tanks

Pressure-vacuum-controlled fixed-roof tankage for lower-vapour and heated services, with managed breathing and overfill protection.

Tank-to-Tank Transfers

Controlled internal movements on verified line-ups for grade management, blending and maintenance windows, measured and documented as custody events.

Marine Loading Arms

Articulated ship–shore loading arms and hoses operated to ISGOTT, with emergency release and continuous watch during cargo transfer.

Truck & Rail Loading

Multi-bay loading gantries with metered, additive-capable dispatch and per-lift ticketing for road and rail distribution.

Pipeline Interfaces

Custody-metered pipeline connections to refineries, terminals and grids, with batch scheduling and interface management on multiproduct lines.

Custody-Transfer Metering

Proved flow meters and calibrated tank gauging establish opening and closing quantities under API MPMS-based procedures.

Sampling Systems

Representative sampling at receipt, in storage and at redelivery; samples are sealed, labelled and retained under an agreed retention protocol.

Laboratory Services

Testing through accredited independent laboratories verifies product against specification and supports blend release and dispute resolution.

Vapour Recovery

Vapour recovery and management systems, where installed, reduce emissions and evaporative loss during storage and loading.

Fire Protection Systems

Foam, cooling and detection systems sized to the tank-farm risk profile, with resources matched to credible fire scenarios.

SCADA Monitoring

Supervisory control and data acquisition provides real-time monitoring of levels, temperatures, flows and alarms across the terminal.

Control-Room Operations

A staffed control room coordinates movements, monitors instrumentation and holds authority over line-ups and emergency response.

Emergency Shutdown Systems

Independent emergency shutdown logic can safely halt transfers and isolate systems on demand or on defined trip conditions.

Qualification

Our commercial team assesses technical fit, capacity availability and commercial alignment, and confirms next steps.

03

NDA

A mutual non-disclosure agreement is executed so terminal specifications and commercial terms can be exchanged in confidence.

05

Terminal Scheduling

Berth windows, tank allocation and receipt timing are scheduled and coordinated with your logistics and any connected parties.

06

Product Arrival

Product arrives by vessel, pipeline, rail or road; marine calls proceed under ISGOTT with pre-transfer conference and ship/shore checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tank Leasing — FAQ

How is tank leasing charged?+
By negotiation, reflecting structure, tenor, product, throughput profile and ancillary services. Indicative terms follow qualification; we do not publish rate cards.
What is the minimum volume or tenor?+
Minimum parcels and tenors are set per terminal and product class. State your requirement; if we cannot fit it, we say so promptly.
Can dedicated tanks be leased?+
Yes. Dedicated tankage for exclusive use is available where specification, branding or programme requirements demand it.
Can I lease capacity for multiple products?+
Yes, within compatible segregation families and subject to service fit; multi-product programmes are common under term and throughput structures.
What happens if my product overstays the agreement?+
Storage agreements define holdover terms and rates in advance, so end-of-term positions are a known commercial quantity rather than a dispute.
Can leased capacity be assigned or subleased?+
Assignment and sublease provisions are defined in the agreement; any substitute counterparty must pass the same screening.
How are inspections handled?+
Independent surveyors may witness gauging, sampling and calculation at custody points; you may appoint your own or use an accredited independent arrangement.
Can SGS inspections be arranged?+
Yes — you may appoint SGS or another inspection company, or we can arrange accredited independent inspection.
How often are inventory reports issued?+
On an agreed cadence, with movement confirmations and reconciliation, as set in the agreement.
Can products be blended in leased tanks?+
Yes, where infrastructure allows, against a written blend order with metered movements and laboratory verification.
Is leased capacity insured?+
Terminal liability and insurance frameworks are confirmed during onboarding; customers separately insure product value, as is standard in the industry.
What documentation is issued?+
Stock statements, movement confirmations, quality and quantity records, and a closing reconciliation pack covering the tenancy.
